OMNISHAMBLES

Each year the Oxford English Dictionary chooses its 'Word of the Year'. It has recently announced the winner for 2012: omnishambles.

But what does it mean? Who coined (=invented/made up) this word? Click on the following link to listen to a discussion about the origins of this word in the section 6 Minute English from BBC Learning English. If you find it difficult to understand, you can download the transcript and read it while you're listening to it. You can also read the related links at the end of the page.
